The Ubuntu Membership Board is responsible for approving new Ubuntu members. I interviewed our board members in order for the Community to get to know them better and get over the fear of applying to Membership.
The seventh interviewee is Aaron Honeycutt:
[Q]What do you do for a career?[A]I work for the School Board of Broward County (not a teacher lol).[Q]What was your first computing experience?[A]I remember a EMachine with Windows XP on it. Oh was that bad.[Q]How long have you been involved with Ubuntu?[A]5 years or so but just 2 years ago I got my Membership.[Q]Since you are all fairly new to the Board, why did you join?[A]To help out, welcome new members with open arms.[Q]What are some of the projects you’ve worked on in Ubuntu over the years?[A]Ubuntu Touch, Documentation.[Q]What is your focus in Ubuntu today?[A]Getting every Documentation team to work together in a similar fashion .[Q]Do you contribute to other free/open source projects? Which ones?[A]I help spread the word of LibreOffice and help their QA team when I can.[Q]If you were to give a newcomer some advice about getting involved with Ubuntu, what would it be?[A]Get onto the Mailing List, IRC and talk to people, we are a very friendly bunch![Q]Do you have any other comments else you wish to share with the community?[A]Once you find that spot when your both needed and want to be, you’ll find happiness in the community
